DEAR MARC KNOPFLER, I LOVE ALL YOUR VERSES…STILL, MAY I ADD A FEW THINGS?

“Why worry?
There should be laughter after pain,
There should be sunshine after rain”

Some lyrics have perfect synchronization. They have such a talent to wait for the perfect moment to  touch your heart  exactly . And you are so happy to welcome them , you open yourself, and let them in with their owner, and the remain with you all your life. At the moments of despair, you just look around within you. And find them , then take them out from the place they have been hiding , wipe away the dust and rust on them, and they start to shine as bright as the first day you have noticed them.

Those are from “Why Worry?”  of Mark Knofler.

Although very naive, they possess the deep essence of everything: the continuity of life. They remind us of that never-ending cycle, never-ending, but not vicious.  As one thing fades away, its opposite appear at dawn. Nothing is forever. Days follow nights, sunshines follow rains, pains are not forever, laughters are sure to follow them. That is the simple way that things go, so simple as those few simple words above.

In times of despair, they hold great hope, if one can hold onto.  “Heaviness of life is never continuous, at some point there will be some relief,” seems to be  a fairy tale approach to many. But it is not the case, if one understands that  admitting the reciprocal is also necessary: that is, after the sunshine, clouds may reappear. You cannot take one, and leave the other, they come in one package. “C’est la vie” it is…

I came across that song recently, when I can tell you frankly that I was very down… If it wasn’t Mark who was singing it-he is my teen-age love- it would never  wake me up from the somber illusion of life being really crueli I would just shut my ears, my feelings, my understanding, my everything to all Polyannas of the world. But with some people it is always different, you are always open to them, whatever happens around you, and he is one of them for me. He could touch my heart and revive its hopes more then any other thing could do…After switching to a more optimistic mode, life starts to glide smoothly, we all know that…And that time also , what was expected just happened. All the world, all the stars, all the planets they gathered on my side, and whispered to me: “You are safe Elif, everything will be alright.”

But what I am more happy with is that today I know what is more important than that feeling of relief, of that feeling of hoping always for the best to come:  And that most important point is having a more stable approach towards everything that happens around us, that doesn’t lead to very dramatic ups and downs is ,. Although I admit that it is easier said then is done, having that feeling at heart uninterruptedly and wishing for that helps alot.  Life may be harsh sometimes, or very generous at some points. Either way, if we are able to go on calmly, without need of exaggeration with whatever we are doing, living or dreaming, then that means we are balanced within ourselves. We can be sad, we can be bad at some crossroads, that is totally human. But the problem arises when we are tangled within those feelings, when we become the feeling itself…Thus, being able to disattach from those feelings, and  observing them from outside helps a lot.

Understanding life as it is, that all consistes of dualities whether we like it not, calms our thoughts, our feelings, our whole being, then it becomes so easy to proceed with whatever we are occupied with. A smooth pathway becomes clear to our eyes, and we can clear  the bushes that we come accross, set  the thorns  aside if they appear at unexpected moments. Understanding that life is as it is, with all its goods and evils helps us to  use our energy in our pursuit of our dreams…

Whether laughter or pain,  rain or shine…”
